Farah the Misguided - Virgo's Crescent Ep Review

Farah the Misguided is a singer/songwriter of Palestinian and French descent hailing from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. With a rich and diverse musical background, she easily navigates through multiple genres, seamlessly blending R&B and Neo-soul to create such a captivating sound. With over a decade of experience as a vocalist and three years dedicated to shaping her distinctive musical identity, Farah continues to evolve with each new release.

Her first EP - Virgo's Crescent focuses on losing a lover and the transformative potential of the journey. To be more specific, you are thrown into the undeniable truth of loving a Virgo and how they handle a breakup. When a relationship ends after a Virgo breakup, it is almost impossible to turn off your thoughts. You may spend hours, even years, analyzing the relationship, trying to figure out what went wrong. This “analysis paralysis” can prevent you from moving forward.

Across all 5 songs, Farah is self-critical, approaching the breakup with a focus on understanding what went wrong and coming to terms with the end of the relationship. The warm and lush harmonic backdrops throughout the EP are comforting, and Farah’s voice is soft and soulful, carrying the lyrics with a passion that’s hard to ignore. Overall, the project is like a tender embrace.

You know the saying “A lesson is repeated until it’s learnt” and on the first two songs of the EP, Farah is making sure not to repeat her mistakes on Almond Eyes Woman as she does some inward reflection following the outcome. Maybe she knows where it all went wrong as she says, "You're understanding, But you're not comprehending, And your body's speaking, But your mouth's not telling," suggesting the intimacy at the core of the relationship but not the necessary communication.

She seeks closure and clarity throughout the next two tracks, Moonshine and Karmic Thoughts. Disappointment is the sour aftertaste of having had expectations, but now, Farah has established her ground and showcased her personal growth with lines like " If you come with me, Listen a little closer, Talk with me, Maybe get a some closure, Realize things have changed & We've grown apart in the best way," turns a new perspective in it all.

Although she is hurt by the end of the relationship, she is still wishing that special Gemini well. Realizing that others are going through similar experiences empowers and motivates her and helps combat feelings of loneliness. After experiencing the hardships with her partner in the relationship, she does not seek revenge but instead fights back with love. She accepts that she will always have a special place in her heart for him but, she's finally able to close that chapter.

Let yourself feel the emotional range, disappointment to genuine sadness. Only when you process the full spectrum of grief can you move on after a Virgo breakup.
